John Thurman Field is an old school Single A Minor League ballpark built in 1955 in Modesto, California. I’ve been attending games at this stadium since I was about 1988. It is one of the few ballparks that has maintained that 80’s feel all the way into the modern day while still upgrading and not falling apart. The outfield fence has the ads that take you back to the old Minor League Parks of the 80’s.
Its location is easy to get to, with low priced and spacious parking. The staff is always friendly and the atmosphere in fantastic - very intimate, allowing easy access to the players for autographs in the bullpen. There isn’t a ton of shade, so it can get very hot, but night games are usually fantastic. The team store is always well stocked with jerseys, t-shirts and lots of awesome merchandise. The food is great too and there is even a snowcone stand. On my visit in the video, the soda didn’t have any carbonation but they were kind about it and fixed it quickly.
